Getting Started

Kick off your Yanji IoT deployment in five focused steps. This guide links to the relevant product docs so you can move from procurement to data streaming without guesswork.

1. Pick the Right Hardware

RequirementRecommended LineNotes
RS232/RS485 assets that need IP uplinksY20x Serial GatewayMini DTU for single device, Standard DTU for 2/4/8 ports
Local DI/DO/AI/AO aggregationY301 Serial I/O ModulesMix relay and analog channels in one RS485 chain
Cable-free signal mirroring (5–10 km)Y40x LoRa I/O SyncChoose Y401 point-to-point, Y402 one-to-many, or Y403 mesh

2. Wire Power and Field Interfaces

  1. Mount devices on a 35 mm DIN rail or panel surface.
  2. Provide 9–36 VDC (Mini DTU accepts 5–36 VDC). Keep surge protection close to the supply.
  3. Terminate RS485 with 120 Ω resistors at the bus ends; keep cable shields grounded at one point only.
  4. Label DI/DO/AI/AO leads before bundling to simplify commissioning.

Refer to pinouts and wiring tables inside each product index page.

3. Configure Network & Protocols

TaskHow
Assign IP / APN / WiFiConnect to the gateway’s web console or send AT commands over UART.
Secure transportUpload TLS certificates for MQTT/HTTPS under Security in the web UI.
Map Modbus registersUse the unified registers listed in the Y301 docs (DI at 0x0000, DO at 0x0100, etc.).
Set LoRa channelsMatch region (EU868/US915/CN470) and pair IDs as described in the Y40x manual.

4. Connect to Cloud or SCADA

  1. Point MQTT clients to your broker (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, ThingsBoard, Node-RED, or custom).
  2. For HTTP data push, configure the target endpoint and payload format in the gateway profile.
  3. Use Modbus TCP when SCADA needs direct register access—no extra software layer required.
  4. Log traffic during the first hour to confirm QoS and retry policies.

5. Monitor, Expand, and Support

  • Export JSON config files from gateways and keep them under version control for quick rollbacks.
  • Enable diagnostic registers or LEDs (e.g., 0x0800 on Y301) to catch power or bus faults early.
  • Scale by cloning additional gateways/I/O modules with unique Modbus IDs or pairing new LoRa nodes via the on-device buttons.
  • Need help? Email hi@yanjiiot.com with the device model and firmware version.
