1. Introduction

  • Operating mode: Modbus-RTU slave over RS485 (default) or RS232.
  • Power input: 5–36 VDC with reverse-polarity protection.
  • Operating temperature: -40 °C to +85 °C with DIN-rail or screw mounting.
  • Channel summary: 4× opto-isolated DI, 4× SPDT relay DO (both models) plus 4× AI on Y301-444.
  • DIP switch SW1–SW5 adds a binary offset to the configured Modbus slave address for quick staging.

2. System Overview

  • DI support dry or wet contacts with configurable debounce and 32-bit pulse counting.
  • DO are SPDT relays rated AC 277 V / 10 A or DC 28 V / 10 A. Each relay may retain its state through soft or power resets.
  • AI (Y301-444) provide per-channel selection of 0–10 V, 0–5 V, or 4–20 mA input ranges. Voltage is reported in millivolts, current in microamps.
  • LED indicators: POWER, WORK (heartbeat), DI1–DI4, DO1–DO4, AI sampling (Y301-444), TX/RX traffic.
  • Reload push button restores factory defaults after a 3–15 s press (DIP offset preserved).

3. Hardware Interfaces

  • Power: V+/V− screw terminals plus 5.5 × 2.1 mm DC jack.
  • DI block: COM+, COM−, DI1…DI4. Dry mode bridges COM+ to DI via switch. Wet mode accepts external 5–36 V referenced to COM−.
  • DO block: NOn/COMn/NCn (n = 1…4) for SPDT relays.
  • AI block (Y301-444): AI− plus V+ (voltage positive) and I+ (current positive) per channel. Only one mode may be wired at a time.
  • Communication: RS485 A/B/GND by default; RS232 exposes TX/RX/GND on the same terminal block.
  • DIP switch: 5-bit address offset (ON = 1).

4. Electrical Specifications

  • Supply: 5–36 VDC. Typical draw: 180 mA @12 V (Y301-440) / 220 mA @12 V (Y301-444). Maximum: 250 mA / 300 mA with relays energized.
  • Digital Inputs: 4 channels, <5 mA per channel, 100 Hz sampling, 5–36 V wet threshold, 5–255 ms debounce (default 50 ms).
  • Digital Outputs: 4 SPDT relays, AC 277 V 10 A / DC 28 V 10 A rating, <10 ms pickup, <5 ms release, 100 k electrical cycles.
  • Analog Inputs (Y301-444): 4 channels, 0–10 V / 0–5 V / 4–20 mA selectable per channel, ±1% FS accuracy, 16-bit resolution, 10 Hz sampling per channel.

5. Modbus Communication Parameters

  • Slave Addressing: Base address 1–255 stored in holding register 40063. DIP offset (0–31) is added at runtime.
  • Baud Rate: 600–230400 bps (default 9600) via register 40088.
  • Frame Format: Standard Modbus-RTU. All commands use CRC16 (Lo byte first).
  • Supported Function Codes:
    • 0x01 Read Coils → DO state (addresses 0x0000–0x0003).
    • 0x02 Read Discrete Inputs → DI state (addresses 0x0000–0x0003).
    • 0x03 Read Holding Registers → configuration, automation parameters, diagnostics.
    • 0x04 Read Input Registers → AI voltage/current readings (Y301-444 only).
    • 0x05 / 0x0F Write Single/Multiple Coils → DO control.
    • 0x06 / 0x10 Write Single/Multiple Holding Registers → parameter updates, automation blocks.
  • Automation Register Block: Starting at PLC 40129 (0x0080). Each rule consumes 16 bytes in Mode, Action, DO index, Trigger index, Param1, Param2 order.
  • Pulse Counters: PLC 41281–41287 map to DI1–DI4 32-bit counters (write zero to clear).
  • Special Register: 0x0800 write 0x5500 to soft reboot; write 0x0055 to restore defaults.

6. Configuration Workflow

  1. Connect via HYToolBox, Modbus Poll, or any RTU master.
  2. Discover units with broadcast address 0 if needed; assign unique base address in register 40063.
  3. Set baud rate, parity, and stop bits (registers 40088–40092) to match the host bus.
  4. Configure DI debounce (40067) and pulse edge mode (40066) to match signal noise levels.
  5. Enable DO retention mode (40065) if relays must maintain state after reset.
  6. Program automation rules by writing 16-byte blocks from register 0x0080 upward (two rules per DO, total eight rules).
  7. Store device name, heartbeat, and broadcast behavior using registers 40047, 40077, 40064 when supervisory systems require identification.

7. Automation & Linkage Rules

  • Mode 0 – DI Follow: DO mirrors DI state. Action selects DO state when DI = 1.
  • Mode 1 – DI Reverse Follow: DO is inverse of DI state.
  • Mode 2 – Pulse Output: DO toggles to commanded state for Param1 milliseconds, then reverts.
  • Mode 3 / 4 – Delay On / Delay Off: Adds Param1 delay before switching.
  • Mode 5 – Cycle: Alternating ON/OFF durations (Param1 = ON ms, Param2 = OFF ms).
  • Mode 6 / 7 – Timer Absolute / Interval: Trigger at Unix timestamp or periodic interval.
  • Mode 8 – Schedule: Start time plus repeat interval; requires RTC register 40086.
  • Mode 9 – Daily Schedule: Executes at seconds-from-midnight (Param1).
  • Mode 10 – AI Threshold (Y301-444): DO reacts to AI voltage/current crossing Param1 (mV/µA) with Param2 hysteresis.
  • Mode 11 – Button Mode: DO engages while DI pressed; optional hold via Param1.
  • Mode 12 – Watchdog: Drives DO fail-safe if heartbeat or DI pulse not seen within Param1.
  • Mode 13–15 – Logic: Bitmask-based AND/OR/XOR between DI/DO sources.

Rule capacity: 4 DO × 2 rules = 8 stored logic blocks evaluated in ascending register order.

8. Wiring Guidelines

  • Power: Use 22–16 AWG conductors with a 2 A upstream fuse; keep leads short.
  • DI Dry Contact: Loop COM+ through external switch back to DIx. For wet inputs, feed external 5–36 V to DIx with COM− return.
  • DO Loads: Install RC snubbers (AC) or flyback diodes (DC) on inductive loads. Observe contact ratings.
  • AI Wiring (Y301-444): Voltage mode uses V+ and AI−; current mode uses I+ and AI− with external loop supply. Never wire voltage and current terminals simultaneously on the same channel.
  • RS485 Bus: Shielded twisted pair with 120 Ω termination at both ends, plus common reference ground. Limit to 32 nodes per segment.

9. Diagnostics & Maintenance

  • LEDs: POWER steady indicates supply OK; WORK blinks when firmware runs; DI/DO LEDs mirror channel states; TX/RX blink with serial traffic.
  • Reload: Hold button 3–15 s to restore defaults (base address resets to 1 while DIP offset remains).
  • Routine Checks:
    • Tighten terminal screws every 6 months.
    • Inspect insulation near high-voltage loads.
    • Monitor Modbus error counters; adjust debounce or cabling if retries increase.
